Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average age of PVC members?
Ages of PVC members range from 20's to 60's, with the average member in their 30's and 40's. Our focus is not on age, but on diversity of experience.
Can I participate if I am unable to attend meetings?
Meetings are not required, but they are a great way to get a feel for who we are.
What happens at meetings?
We review past and future events and have sheets to sign up for the activities. We also have snacks and usually play card games, including euchre, after the meetings.
I have never been a part of a "singles" group, what is PVC like in that manner?
We are a community of singles who come together to help the community. PVC is a place where you would be as likely to find good friends as finding partners. It is a relaxed, safe and nonthreatening way to be with other single people.
Do I have to be a member to participate in activities?
You are more than welcome to participate in a few activities to see if you like it. You will receive 2 free newsletters, at which point we will ask for you to become a member.
What does being a "member" means?
To fully participate, we have a $35 annual membership fee and ask that you participate in at least 4 projects each year.
What is Restaurant Club?
Restaurant Club consists of a list of people who meet for dinner the 4th Friday of each month. Each time a different person chooses the location.
How does PVC define "single"?
PVC defines "single" as simply being never married, widowed or divorced.
Do I have to live in Ann Arbor or Washtenaw County to be a member?
No. Our activities revolve around Washtenaw County, but our members are from all around.
How many activities are planned each month?
We try to plan at least 2 projects and 2 socials each month, which try to cover different areas of interest.
Are there varied days and times for activities?
Many of our activities occur on the weekends and we try to vary days and times to allow participation for members with different work schedules.
What do my dues pay for?
Your dues take care of our few operating expenses such as rent, postage and copying copying for newletters, voicemail, etc. In addition, your dues allow us to host one meal each year at Ronald McDonald House and provide some food for our annual picnic.
Do I have to attend the newcomer orientation to join?
Orientation is not required, just provided as a helpful "welcome" to potential members.
